How close is the boat from Hotel Vestibul Palace
Vestibul Palace sits at Iza Vestibula 4, in the south-east corner of Diocletian's Palace literally above the Roman vestibule. Walking from your room to our speedboat is one of the shortest hotel-to-boat transfers in Split — about 180 metres, 2 to 3 minutes through the palace's south gate and out onto the Riva.
Because the hotel is inside the historic palace, large vehicles cannot reach the front door — but for a boat tour it doesn't matter. We meet you on the Riva at the eastern marina marker. If you have heavy bags or limited mobility, the hotel concierge can call a small electric cart to take you the final 200 metres.
Boutique-stay matched tours
Vestibul attracts a particular kind of traveller — design-led, culturally curious, often on a honeymoon or a milestone anniversary. The tours we most often book for Vestibul guests reflect that:
- Hvar & Pakleni Private Charter — slowest pace, longest lunch on Hvar, private boat for the whole group
- Blue Cave 5-Island Tour (group) — for guests who want to see everything in one day
- Sunset cruise around Čiovo — 3-hour bespoke charter, chilled bottle on board
- Bespoke proposal/anniversary day — we work with the hotel team to set up the romantic moment
Vestibul Palace timing and breakfast
Breakfast at Vestibul is served in the Roman atrium, 07:30 to 10:30. That overlaps with our 07:30 boat departure for the Blue Cave day, so for full-day tours we suggest either a small early breakfast (the kitchen can prepare it from 06:45 on request) or a take-away of pastries and coffee. The hotel handles this seamlessly — many of our regular Vestibul guests do it.
If you'd prefer to enjoy a slow palace breakfast and still get on the water, the half-day Blue Lagoon & Trogir tour at 13:00 is the natural choice. You can be on the water by lunchtime without losing the morning ritual.
Romantic and celebration trips
A surprising share of our Vestibul bookings involve a proposal or a major anniversary. The private boat day allows us to choreograph the romantic moment — anchored in a quiet Pakleni cove, chilled bottle hidden in the cooler, a discreet drone photographer if you want one. We've done this many times and the Vestibul concierge is excellent at the in-room follow-up (rose petals, ice bucket, etc.).
Tell us in confidence when you book and we'll handle the logistics. It is genuinely the kind of moment people talk about for years.
Why a boat day matters when you're staying inside Diocletian's Palace
Vestibul Palace is one of the most atmospheric hotels in Croatia, but the palace itself can be busy by late morning — cruise-ship day-trippers fill the central Peristyle square from 09:30. Going out on the boat for the day means you experience the palace at its quietest (early morning) and again at its most beautiful (early evening, after the day-trippers have left). That contrast — wild islands by day, candlelit Roman courtyards by night — is the highest-quality Split itinerary you can put together.
The other reason a boat day suits a Vestibul stay specifically: the hotel is small (only 7 rooms), so the rhythm of the building is already private and unhurried. Coming back from the boat at 17:30 doesn't feel like returning to a lobby full of strangers — you walk back through the south gate into a quiet, almost personal space. The drink waiting on your room's balcony, the light on the Adriatic in the distance, the cathedral lit up at dusk: this is the moment that a Vestibul stay is sold on, and the boat day is what makes it land.
A perfect three-day Vestibul itinerary
Day one is the slow palace day — arrive, settle into the room above the Roman vestibule, take an evening walk through the cathedral square at dusk when the day-trippers have left. Dinner at Paradigma or Bokamorra (both 5 minutes from the hotel) is the right opening note for a Vestibul stay.
Day two is the boat day. We pick you up at the hotel, you do the full Blue Cave 5-island route, and you're back on the Riva by 17:30. Walk back through the south gate at golden hour; the palace courtyards at that time are genuinely magical and almost empty.
Day three is the recovery and culture day. Slow breakfast in the atrium, walking tour of the cathedral and the substructures, lunch on the Riva, an afternoon ferry to nearby Šolta or a beach hour at Bačvice, then a final dinner at Konoba Hvaranin in the palace lanes. That's the rhythm that makes a Vestibul stay worth every euro — boat day in the middle, slow culture days bookending it.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Hotel Vestibul Palace from the boat tour meeting point?
About 180 metres — a 2 to 3 minute walk from the Vestibul exit through the south gate of Diocletian's Palace and out onto the Riva. It is one of the shortest hotel-to-boat walks in Split.
Can the hotel arrange a transfer from Vestibul Palace to your boat?
Yes — the Vestibul concierge can summon a small electric cart for guests with bags or limited mobility. The walk is short enough that most guests prefer just to stroll, especially in the morning light.
What time should we eat breakfast at Vestibul before a tour?
Breakfast runs 07:30–10:30 in the Roman atrium. For our full-day 07:30 tour, ask for an early breakfast from 06:45 or a take-away — the kitchen does this regularly. For our half-day 13:00 tour, normal breakfast works perfectly.
Which tour suits a Vestibul honeymoon best?
The Hvar & Pakleni private charter. It is slower-paced, gives you private use of the boat, and the lunch on Hvar pairs beautifully with the boutique-hotel mood of Vestibul. We can also build a bespoke proposal day if you let us know in advance.
Can you arrange a proposal or anniversary on the boat?
Absolutely — we have organised many. Tell us in confidence and we will handle chilled wine, a discreet drone photographer if you want one, and the timing of the anchorage. The Vestibul concierge then takes care of the in-room follow-up.
Is there parking near Hotel Vestibul Palace for tour days?
Diocletian's Palace is pedestrian-only. The closest reliable parking is the Bačvice garage (5-minute walk) or the harbour garage. The Vestibul concierge can recommend based on your dates.
Can we do a half-day tour and still see Hvar?
Yes — the half-day Hvar trip leaves at 13:00 and returns around 18:00, giving you 90 minutes on Hvar plus swim stops on the way. It is the easiest way to add Hvar to a 2-night Vestibul stay.
Do Vestibul guests get a special tour rate?
No special hotel-tier pricing — we believe in honest, single-rate quotes for everyone. What Vestibul guests do get is concierge co-ordination, priority weather reschedules and a custom proposal/anniversary setup at no extra fee.
