Joining a boat tour while staying in Trogir
Trogir is one of the most beautiful old towns on the Croatian coast — a UNESCO-listed Venetian-Romanesque island town about 28 km west of Split. We operate from the central Split Riva, so guests staying in Trogir join our tours one of two ways: either by transfer to Split (25 minutes by taxi, €30 fixed, or about €5 by direct local bus 37), or by direct pickup from the Trogir marina by arrangement on the half-day Blue Lagoon route which already passes through Trogir.
If you're staying in Trogir specifically because you want to avoid Split crowds, you don't have to give that up to do a boat day — we can route the half-day tour so you board in Trogir itself rather than commuting to Split first.
Most-relevant tours for Trogir guests
The Blue Lagoon & Trogir half-day already includes a Trogir stop on its return leg — if you're staying in Trogir, you can board the boat directly here at 13:00, swim at the Blue Lagoon, and the tour finishes when the boat returns to your starting point. Many of our Trogir-based guests do exactly this.
For full-day tours (Blue Cave, Hvar, private charters), you transfer to Split for the 07:30 departure. The taxi ride is 25 minutes door-to-dock; bus 37 runs frequently from Trogir to Split (about 50 minutes including stops). Either way, plan to leave Trogir 90 minutes before boat departure.
- Blue Lagoon & Trogir — €69/person — direct Trogir pickup available
- Blue Cave 5-Island — €119/person — transfer to Split Riva for 07:30
- 3 Island Private (ends in Trogir) — naturally finishes at your doorstep
- Hvar & Pakleni Private — transfer to Split, or charter pickup from Trogir marina
Direct boat pickup from Trogir marina
Our half-day Blue Lagoon & Trogir tour can pick you up at the Trogir marina if booked in advance — we add Trogir as the boarding point on the way to the Blue Lagoon. This saves you the Split commute and lets you watch your home town from the water as the day starts.
Private charters can also leave from Trogir marina by arrangement, with a small repositioning fee (€80–€120 depending on route) that covers the boat's transit time from Split.
Why Trogir is a great boat-tour base
Trogir's central position on the central Dalmatian coast actually means you're closer to several key islands than Split is — Drvenik Veliki (the Blue Lagoon), Šolta and the eastern Pakleni Islands are all closer to Trogir than to the Split Riva. For the Blue Lagoon especially, leaving from Trogir means more time on the islands and less time crossing.
Trogir is also one of the easier old towns to wander in — smaller than Split's Diocletian's Palace, more concentrated, with a single cathedral that genuinely deserves the UNESCO listing. The combination of a Trogir base, a boat day, and slow evenings on the riva is one of the best Croatian holiday rhythms you can build.
Compared to Split, Trogir's pace is slower, the cruise-ship pressure is lighter (Trogir doesn't have a cruise dock), and the evening light on the cathedral is reliably one of the best photo windows on the coast. Many of our repeat Croatian guests stay in Trogir specifically because it gives them the quieter base while still putting Split's restaurants and night life within easy taxi range.
Logistics: how to plan your Trogir boat day
Two simple flows depending on which tour you're booking:
For the half-day Blue Lagoon (direct Trogir pickup): meet our crew at the agreed Trogir marina marker at 13:00, board the boat, head to the Blue Lagoon for a 90-minute swim, return via the Split coastline, and disembark in Trogir around 18:00. Full day-trip experience without crossing the bridge into Split.
For the full-day Blue Cave route (transfer to Split): leave Trogir at 06:00 by taxi or 06:15 by bus 37, arrive at Split Riva by 07:00, board the boat at 07:15, depart 07:30, return to Split at 17:30, taxi or bus back to Trogir by 19:00.
What to do in Trogir on your non-boat days
Trogir rewards slow days. Start with the cathedral of St. Lawrence — the Radovan portal is widely considered the finest Romanesque sculpture in Croatia, and the bell tower (24-metre climb) gives the best view of the island town from above. Allow an hour for the cathedral and tower, then walk the small grid of Venetian alleys behind it; the whole old town is barely 500 metres across and you'll feel you've covered every street by mid-morning.
Lunch on Trogir's Riva at Don Dino or Konoba Trs is the classic Dalmatian pattern — grilled fish, octopus salad, glass of Pošip wine, two hours over coffee afterward. The cafés on the Riva are slightly more expensive than the inland alley restaurants but the harbour view is worth it. For dinner, Konoba Skrapa hidden in the Mavarstica neighbourhood is genuinely excellent if you can find it.
If you have a free afternoon, the Trogir Mavarstica beach is a 15-minute walk from the old town — quieter than Split's Bačvice and shallower-shelving, ideal for kids. The Čiovo island side (walk across the bridge from Trogir) has a string of small swimming bays as well; Saldun beach is the closest and most peaceful. Combined with one of our boat days, this rhythm of slow Trogir mornings, island boat days, and Adriatic sunsets is one of the best Croatian holiday weeks you can build.

Frequently asked questions
Can I join a Split boat tour if I am staying in Trogir?
Yes — either by taxi or bus 37 to Split (25–50 minutes) for the 07:30 full-day tours, or by direct Trogir marina pickup for the half-day Blue Lagoon & Trogir tour which already passes through Trogir.
How far is Trogir from the Split Riva boat tour meeting point?
About 28 km — 25 minutes by taxi (€30 fixed rate), or 50 minutes by direct bus 37 (around €5 per person). Trogir is included as a stop on the half-day boat tour.
Which boat tour is best if I am staying in Trogir?
The half-day Blue Lagoon & Trogir tour — it includes Trogir as a stop and we can pick you up from Trogir marina directly. Saves you the Split commute and starts the boat day from your doorstep.
Can you pick us up from the Trogir marina by boat?
Yes — direct boat pickup from Trogir marina is included on the half-day tour by arrangement. Private charters can also leave from Trogir with a small repositioning fee covering the boat's transit from Split.
Is Trogir a better base than Split for a boat holiday?
For some travellers, yes — Trogir is smaller, calmer and closer to the Blue Lagoon and western islands. Split has more dining variety and faster airport access. The choice depends on your travel rhythm.
What time should I leave Trogir for the Blue Cave tour?
06:00 by taxi or 06:15 by bus 37, to arrive at Split Riva by 07:00 for boarding. The boat departs at 07:30 and returns at 17:30; you are back in Trogir by 18:30–19:00.
Does the 3-Island private tour finish in Trogir?
Yes — the 3-Island route concludes in Trogir, which means if you are staying in Trogir you can ask the skipper to drop you at Trogir marina at the end of the day instead of returning to Split. We do not charge extra for this.
Are there speedboat tour operators based in Trogir directly?
A handful, but most are limited to short Blue Lagoon trips. For full-coverage day trips (Blue Cave, Hvar, Pakleni) you want a Split-based operator — and we make the Trogir handoff easy with transfer arrangement or direct marina pickup.
