Is the entrance fee included in the tour price?

On almost all speedboat tours from Split, the Blue Cave entrance ticket is not included in the tour price. It is paid separately on-site, directly to the local cave authority on Bisevo before entering.

This is standard practice across the industry and has a practical reason: the cave authority sets the fee independently, manages the ticketing system, and handles access. Tour operators collect payment for the boat, crew, fuel, and equipment — not the cave itself.

A transparent tour operator will always state clearly on their tour page that the entrance fee is excluded and give you a guide on the current amount to bring in cash.

How much is the entrance fee?

The fee varies by season and is typically in the range of €10 to €20 per person. Peak summer rates (July and August) are usually higher than those in May, June, September, or October.

Children under a certain age (typically 7 or under) are often free or discounted. The exact current rate is always confirmed by your crew before departure so there are no surprises on the day.

Budget around €15 per adult in cash to cover it comfortably. There are no card payment options at the cave itself.

What does the entrance fee cover?

The entrance ticket covers the transfer from the speedboat into the cave itself — a small rowboat operated by local handlers — and the 10 to 15 minute guided visit inside. The speedboat cannot enter the cave due to its low ceiling and strict environmental rules.

Access is managed strictly by the cave authority. The number of boats entering simultaneously is limited, which is why there is sometimes a queue. Your crew will time the approach to minimise waiting.

What is included in a quality tour price?

A good speedboat tour from Split includes fuel, professional skipper and sailor, travel insurance, wind jacket, snorkelling equipment (mask, fins, snorkel), and cold drinks throughout the day.

Lunch is not included and is usually enjoyed independently in Hvar town, where restaurants are plentiful. Personal spending money for souvenirs, ice cream, or cocktails in Hvar is also outside the tour price.

Always read the inclusions carefully before booking. If a tour lists a very low price, check whether fuel, crew, or equipment is actually included — these can be hidden extras with less reputable operators.

What to bring in cash

Bring approximately €30 to €40 in cash per person for the day. This covers the cave entrance (roughly €15), a lunch stop in Hvar (€15 to €25 for a meal and a drink), and anything else you want to buy at stops.

Some Hvar restaurants accept cards, but cash is useful at smaller stops, the cave itself, and any unexpected extras. There are ATMs in Hvar town if you find yourself short.
