Private Boat Tour Prices in Split 2026: What Do You Get for the Money?

How private boat pricing works

Private tours in Split are priced per boat, not per person. This is the fundamental difference from group tours, and it changes the value calculation entirely depending on how many people you are travelling with.

A private Hvar and Pakleni Islands tour at €1,200 per boat sounds expensive. For two people, it is €600 each — more than five times the group tour price. For eight people, it is €150 each — comparable to or cheaper than a group tour, with an entirely private experience.

Before dismissing a private tour as too expensive, always calculate the actual per-person cost for your group.

What is included in a quality private tour?

A well-run private tour from Split includes the full boat for your group only, a professional skipper and sailor, all fuel, travel insurance, a wind jacket, snorkelling equipment (mask, fins, snorkel for every guest), and cold drinks throughout the day.

Lunch is not included and is usually enjoyed independently at a restaurant stop. The cave entrance ticket on Blue Cave routes is paid locally. Personal spending at stops is your own cost.

What you are paying for is the crew, the boat, the fuel, and the freedom to use the day entirely on your terms.

Private vs group: when each makes more sense

Group tours make sense for solo travellers, couples, or small groups of three or four people who want to keep costs reasonable and are comfortable sharing the boat with strangers. Group tours follow a fixed departure time and fixed route, which suits guests who want a clear, planned experience.

Private tours make sense for families of six or more (where per-person cost becomes competitive), for guests who want flexibility to adjust the itinerary, for special occasions like anniversaries or birthdays, and for anyone who simply values having the boat to themselves.

There is no universal answer. A couple on a tight budget should choose the group tour. A family of eight who wants the day entirely to themselves should almost certainly choose private.

Route comparison by price

The Hvar and Pakleni Islands private tour covers the western route and is the most popular private charter. The Blue Cave private tour covers the same route as the group tour but with your group alone on the boat. The 3 Island private tour combines Blue Lagoon, Solta, and Trogir in eight hours.

The Golden Horn Brac and Bol private tour at nine hours covers the southern coast of Brac including Croatia's most famous beach. The Party Night Hvar transfer operates in the evening and is designed for groups heading to Hvar's nightlife.

All private tours include the same core package — boat, crew, fuel, equipment, drinks. The difference is the route and the duration.

What affects the final price?

Base prices are quoted per boat for the standard route and timing. Additional costs can arise from pickup locations more than a few nautical miles from Split centre, from extra stops outside the standard route, from extended waiting time at a stop, or from very early or very late departure times.

Peak season pricing (July and August) is typically higher than shoulder season pricing for private charters. Booking further in advance gives better availability and sometimes better pricing.

Always confirm exactly what is and is not included before booking. A transparent operator will answer these questions clearly.
