Sustipan Parking for Boat Tours in Split

A practical guide to parking near boat tour departure points in Split — Sustipan, the marinas, the Riva. Best options for self-drive travellers and what to know in peak season.

The parking situation in central Split

Split's old town is essentially car-free. Parking spaces in the centre are limited, expensive, and frequently full in summer. Self-drive travellers need to think about parking before they think about anything else.

For boat tours leaving from the Riva, you need a parking option within reasonable walking distance — typically 5 to 15 minutes walk.

Sustipan area parking

Sustipan is the small peninsula south-west of the old town, around the West Coast Marina (ACI Marina Split). Several parking options here.

ACI Marina parking — paid, secure, close to the marina. Around €3 to €4 per hour, €25 to €30 per day in summer.

Street parking on roads above Sustipan — limited, time-restricted, often full from 09:00 in peak season.

Other central options

Sukoišan parking garage (north-east of the old town) — paid, multi-level, around €1.50 to €2 per hour. 10 to 15 minutes walk to the Riva.

Bačvice and the Brodomerkur area east of the old town — some street parking, paid, less crowded than the immediate centre.

Marmontova/Republic Square area — limited paid parking, mostly residents only.

When to arrive for parking

For a 07:30 boat departure, arrive at the marina or parking garage by 06:45 minimum, ideally 06:30. Parking is easiest in the early morning.

For mid-day departures, parking can be challenging. The 14:30 afternoon tour means parking around 13:30, when central Split parking is at its fullest.

For evening departures (party tour at 21:00), parking is easier — daytime visitors have left by then.

Park-and-walk vs park-and-ride

Park-and-walk: any of the parking options above, then walk 10 to 15 minutes to the Riva. Best for solo drivers and small groups.

Park-and-ride: there is no formal park-and-ride for boat tours. The closest option is to leave the car at your hotel (with parking) and taxi to the Riva.

Many Split hotels have parking included or available for guests. If your hotel is within 15 minutes drive of the Riva, this is often the easiest option.

Avoid the old town

Driving into the old town is not allowed for most vehicles. The narrow streets are pedestrianised, and the few accessible parking spots are reserved or extremely limited.

Do not attempt to drive close to the Riva to drop off boat tour passengers. Drop-off zones exist at specific marinas — confirm with the operator before driving.

Cost of central parking

Paid parking in central Split costs €1.50 to €4 per hour depending on zone and location. Daily rates €15 to €30.

For a 10-hour boat tour day, expect to pay €25 to €40 for secure parking.

Free parking is generally not available in central Split. Anything advertised as free should be checked carefully for restrictions.

Marina parking specifically

ACI Marina Split (Sustipan): paid, secure, gated. Best for guests boarding boats from the marina itself.

Zenta Marina and other smaller marinas: paid, often less expensive, varying availability.

Boat tour operators sometimes have arrangements with specific marinas for guest parking. Ask when booking.

Public transport alternative

Split has a functional bus system. Routes serve most of the city. For visitors staying outside the old town, bus to the Riva is often easier than driving.

Bus fare is around €2 to €3, available from kiosks or the driver. Travel time to the Riva from outer Split suburbs is 20 to 40 minutes.

Recommended approach

If your hotel has parking, leave the car there and taxi or bus to the boat tour pickup.

If you must park near the Riva, use ACI Marina Split (Sustipan) or the Sukoišan garage. Arrive 30 minutes before departure to find a spot.

For multi-day boat or yacht tours from Split, ACI Marina has long-stay parking arrangements — ask the operator.
